1992 Nurbank was established as a regional private bank in Atyrau, western oil rich region of Kazakhstan.

2003 The Head Office of Nurbank has moved to financial capital of Kazakhstan — Almaty. Within a short period of time Nurbank has developed from a regional bank to take his place within top ten leading banks in Kazakhstan. At present the Bank occupies the 7th position on a number of key indicators and provides a full range of banking services.

2007 The original shareholders of Nurbank decided to pursue new opportunities and sold the majority stake to Ms. Dariga Nazarbayeva jointly with Mr. Nurali Aliyev, who as of 1 of June 2009 hold 56.38% of common shares (official disclosure of ownership). Nurbank is committed to high standards of transparency and corporate governance and regularly announces its shareholder structure to the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange

2009 Mr. Marat Zairov was appointed as the Chairman of the Management. Prior to Nurbank, Mr. Zairov held position of the Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Halyk Bank, where he supervised the SME and retail sectors of the bank. The appointment of Mr. Zairov would strengthen the positions on Nurbank as one of the leading Kazakhstani Bank providing high quality services to corporate and retail customers.
